Good Kid Maad City Torrent
good kid, m.A.A.d city review
West Coast Supernova
A young man is dubbed as the King of West Coast with the future of second Eminem. By the way, this treasure was discovered by the same familiar «doctor»; and it seems that Dr. Dre has a flair for rap talents. By analogy with the white rap nugget, the black diamond, polished by the above-mentioned master, is flashing beginning with the first album. And by analogy with The Slim Shady LP of 1999, Good Kid, M.A.A.D City of 2012 has the potential to get into the 500 albums of all time according to the same Rolling Stones version. One of the most respected Internet review resources called Pitchfork did not begrudge for the rating for this new album of the California-born and gave it 9.5 points out of 10 and awarded it with the honorary badge – Best new music. Once this rating has been exhibited, music critics in the Internet immediately began to argue on the adequacy and fairness of such judgments. Opinions were divided in two, and at the moment it is not clear which of them will win, but the fact that the masses are talking about a young, aspiring star looks quite promising. Remember how many negative and positive feedbacks were generated for our bro Marshall Bruce Mathers with the release of his first album – it was from legal claims and hatred flows in his address and finishing with house-to-house hair lightening among the fans and posting in Stan style. What did this young black magician do on his first studio record? Let's see.
Revelations from Kendrick Lamar
The first thing we hear on this LP is the composition Sherane aka Master Splinter's Daughter and a prayer, uttered at the pre-dinner with the family. And, looking at the old scanned Polaroid photo on the album cover, you will have a clue whose family it really is. M. Lamar has his own record of revelations based on his own life and he invites us all to come and see it. The song reflects his anguish over the weaker sex during the arduous school and life process of person formation. Do not wait for the exquisite phrases and the beauty of the literary style, on this album Kendrick has a friendly chat with us, so do not be afraid of all anatomical and stylistic details that Lamar's lyrics possess. And this song is one of the most innocuous on the album. Three songs later we meet track called The Art of Peer Pressure, where Lamar is puffing something that is not really tobacco and suddenly decides to smash the trunk of the parked car. Let's go further, here we have Sing About Me, I'm Dying of Thirst that shocks the listener and is kind of the culmination of the entire album. Then we hear a conversation with a friend that after a little reflection on life and album ends with three gunshots. Perhaps it sounds forced, but somewhere inside everything shrinks imagining this whole situation. That's right; the story after story master Lamar reveals the complexities of life of this troubled teenager in the not least troubled world.
The Slim Shady LP and Good Kid, M.A.A.D City
So what? Everything can be. One cannot deny the possibility that Good Kid, M.A.A.D City may be at the same level as the famous Marshall's The Slim Shady LP. Both rappers are talking about what they have experienced, and talking from the bottom of their heart. And you are, involuntary, imbued and absorbed in this gangster, impudent and dangerous atmosphere. You see the beautiful life, lovely girls and brutal showdowns through Lamar's eyes. It is difficult to explain why, but you believe in him and his stories. You are so touched that after a couple of songs you find yourself in da hood with bros, it is you who is smashing this hell bucket and it is you who is hiding from the police, because you had couple of blunts on the way home. Yes, it's not pink, good songs about the life. These songs do not describe snotty relations between boy and girl, it is harsh reality of life, which makes you turn and fight, fight and kill for the chance to live as you want to, and not how the others want you to live. This is the smell of freedom of black rap rebel movement. If you need a clear, festive talk, if the sacred fire of youth still burns in your soul, biography Good Kid, M.A.A.D City is recommended for your listening, and those who are in the subject, well, we think, that they have already praised the album according to its merits.
good kid, m.A.A.d city Umrao jaan 1981 songs. is the sophomore album by Kendrick Lamar, released on October 22, 2012 through Top Dawg Entertainment, Aftermath Entertainment and Interscope Records.
Subtitled “A Short Film by Kendrick Lamar,” this concept album depicts a day in the life of a 17-year-old Lamar as he rides around Compton in his Momma’s (Paula Oliver) minivan. Click here to view an in-depth breakdown of the story.
Kendrick revealed the meaning of the title in an interview with L.A. Leakers, saying:
It’s two, two meanings. The first is ‘my angry adolescence divided,’ and the basic standout meaning is ‘my angel’s on angel dust.’ That’s the reason why I don’t smoke,” he said. “That was me. I got laced. The reason I don’t smoke, and it’s in the album. It’s in the story. It was just me getting my hands on the wrong thing at the wrong time, being oblivious to it.
Kendrick summed up his thoughts on the album during an interview with Rap Genius.
The first 12 tracks make up the standard edition of the album, and there are a variety of different deluxe editions including various bonus tracks. The album was re-released on March 19, 2013 with a bonus remix of “Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe” featuring JAY-Z.
GKMC was met with universal acclaim by music critics. Some of the reviews include the following:
- Dead End Hip Hop: Very Positive
- The Needle Drop: 9/10
- Pitchfork: 9.5/10
- XXL: 5/5
- HipHopDX: 4.5/5
On April 3rd, 2012, Kendrick released the lead single for the album, “The Recipe”.
On July 31st, 2012, he released the second single, “Swimming Pools (Drank)”.
On August 2nd, 2012, Kendrick commented on the album’s sound, saying:
I couldn’t tell you what type of sound or where I’ma be in the next five years as far as music. It’s a big difference from the next project compared to the last. And that’s what happened with this album. Going back to the neighbourhood and going to different spots, chilling with my homeboys, put me back in that same space where we used to be, bringing back them thoughts, reminiscing how I was feeling. I got myself right back in that mode and I got inspired by that. So this album won’t sound like Section.80. Completely nothing like it.
On August 15th, 2012, Lady Gaga tweeted that she was a feature on the album, on a song called “Partynauseous”. However, soon after, on August 23rd she tweeted, saying the song was delayed. Eventually, the song was completely cancelled. In an interview with Complex, Kendrick said:
Lady GaGa was going to be on the song. We had a date, but we had to meet the deadline for the pre-order date. That’s just the business side coming through and messing things up. But you know it’s God’s plan. I’m not really too tight about it because I know we have something special.
The song became the album’s second track, titled “Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe”. On November 8th, Lady Gaga decided to release the version of the song featuring her. Regarding this, in an interview with XXL, Kendrick said:
I didn’t even know she was gonna put that out. That was a surprise. I thought she was gonna hold that in the can. I was cool with it. It showed people we wasn’t playin’ with it; we was actually in the studio vibing out when we recorded. For her to put it out even undone, that says a lot. That says she’s confident not only about her work, but my work.
